Business Travel Service Accounts

As an alternative to the Rail Warrant Account you may wish to consider opening a Business Travel Service Account offered by various Train Operating Companies.

The Business Travel Service Account, offered by many Train Operating Companies, provides a tailor-made service for businesses and organisations allowing them to book tickets anywhere on the National Rail network.

Business Travel Service offices have dedicated teams who can offer expert advice on all your rail travel requirements. Their teams are available every weekday and can help with planning, ticketing and seat reservations.

The service is easy to use. By simply calling your Business Travel Service office, or logging in online, you can book your tickets, reserve seats and get journey planning advice. Tickets requested are then posted to you or made available for collection at stations.


Using the account

The Business Travel Service Account is used for the purchase of all types of tickets except season tickets (Season Ticket Accounts are available on request).

To book your tickets simply call your Business Travel Service office, or log in online, and provide them with your travel requirements. Your Business Travel Service office will then arrange to have your tickets dispatched to you or ready for collection at a specified station. (Fees may be charged for tickets sent).

You will then receive an invoice showing tickets issued and confirming journey details.

Any refunds for unused tickets are paid directly to the Business Travel Service Account.

How to apply

If you would like to apply for an account then please contact any of the Business Travel Service offices from the list below. The Business Travel Service office staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have including confirmation of their office opening hours, ticket collection procedure and booking procedure.

They will then send you an application form for you to complete and return to them.

We offer an ad hoc method of booking railway travel, this includes daily tickets, advance fares, season tickets, plus bus, bulk issues, railcards, sleepers, group travel discounts, carnets and other services involved with these such as excessing advance fares and duplicating lost season tickets.
We have nearly 30 schools and colleges which use our scholar scheme, this is a service that offers discounted tickets to students.


Requests can be made by email, post, online or by fax, and billing is made 4 weekly by invoice. This facility gives businesses up to 50 days credit. Tickets can be posted, royal mail 1st class or special delivery, and they can be processed as TOD collections, which allows them to be picked up with a reference and any payment card. This means customers don`t require a business card to retrieve the tickets.

We are able to book tickets in advance of a journey, as well as on the day of travel.
We have been operating for 20 years, first under South West Trains and now under South Western Railway and we have an experienced and enthusiastic team with over 70 years knowledge of the railway. The whole team, will deal with any queries involving rail travel and we currently have close to 200 active business travel accounts.


There is no charge to use our service and we always offer the best priced tickets with complete impartiality.

Opening an account is quick and simple, the attached application form needs to be completed and sent to us, upon receipt we will make all the necessary arrangements, including a credit check and then advise you as soon as the account is ready to use.

Transport for Wales have in place a dedicated Business travel service which is quick and easy to use. Based at our Head Office in the heart of the Welsh capital, we have a small specialist team on hand to help small and medium size enterprises as well as large scale organisations to not only book tickets but also to help you plan and tailor your journey using real time information to suit your individual requirements.

Our team are available Monday through to Friday from 08:30 to 16:30 and can be contacted via email or by direct dial telephone line, experienced staff are available to answer any questions quickly and efficiently.

Tickets are processed the same day and are delivered using Royal Mail 1st class post, this service is free of charge we do not charge for posting. Alternatively, we can offer a Ticket on Departure service which is ideal for last minute, urgent bookings. Passengers are sent a unique reference number via email/text which allows them to collect tickets from either ticket vending machine at any UK station or a booking office at a location most convenient to you, unlike online booking facilities passengers using our Business travel service do not need the actual credit/debit card used to make the booking, they can use any card for collection, again there is no charge for this facility.

Ticket requests are made electronically using a business booking form which we provide, this allows us to capture information that is used for the production of management information regarding your rail usage. Each month a statement is sent along with copies of receipts for all tickets issued to your account for the previous month.

The travel account is also ideal for employers/schools/colleges who offer interest free loans to their staff in order to purchase annual season tickets. We can issue annual tickets from our Head Office for all routes across the UK not just Wales, but those travelling on the Welsh network have the added incentive of a 4% discount for Corporate Travel account holders. The Season tickets are ordered in the same way as travel tickets and processed through Goldstar which allows the passenger to arrange changes/renewals/duplicates etc. at any booking office convenient to them using Goldstar.
